This is the privacy notice for the Chance Emerson mailing list at chanceemerson.com. It's short because we don't do much with your data.
What we collect
When you join the list we ask for your name and email address. If you choose to, you can also give us a city and state so we can tell you about shows nearby. That part is optional.
To show that you actually agreed to hear from us, we also record the date and time you signed up, the exact wording you agreed to, your IP address and your browser's user agent string.
Why we collect it
To send you emails about new music, shows and merch, because you asked us to. If you gave us a location, we use it only to pick which show announcements are relevant to you. We rely on your consent for this, which you can withdraw at any time.
We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it to build a profile of you. We never have and we don't plan to.
Where it lives
The list is stored in a database run by Upstash, and the signup form runs on Vercel, both hosted in the United States. Both companies act as processors on our behalf and have their own security and privacy commitments. When we send emails we may use an email service to deliver them, and your name and email address will be shared with that service for that purpose only.
How long we keep it
Until you ask to be removed, or until we stop running the list. If you unsubscribe from an email, we remove you from the list.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. If you're in the EU, UK or California, these rights are backed by law (the GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA). We'll never treat you differently for exercising them. If you're in the EU or UK and you think we've handled your data badly, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Remove yourself right now
Enter the email address you signed up with and we'll delete everything we hold about you. It takes effect immediately.
